Why recall before reveal
Reading a definition feels like learning and mostly isn’t. The effortful moment — staring at the word, dragging the meaning up — is where the memory is actually made, which is why the sprint shows you the word alone first and asks you to commit before it shows anything else. Marking yourself honestly matters for the same reason: a “had it” you didn’t really have cheats nobody but the writer sitting the assessment.
