245 files, hosted by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority on its 2012–2016 and 2008–2011 archive pages; every link fetched and confirmed live 2026-09-09. Large-print and black-and-white versions of the same papers are on those pages too, as are the blank writing booklets for 2012 to 2016. Every cell in every table resolved to a file on the verification date; a dash would mean ACARA has since removed one.

What exists after 2016

Three things, all official and all free. None of them is a past paper, and it is worth knowing which is which before paying for a substitute.

• The public demonstration tests on nap.edu.au — online, for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, showing the question types and the on-screen tools of the current test. No answers are provided, and there is no Year 3 writing demonstration because Year 3 writes on paper.
• The current marking guides for persuasive and narrative writing, on nap.edu.au’s what’s in the tests page — the criteria the writing is actually marked against. Read alongside the writing test, explained.
• Free writing prompts in the shape the test uses, by year level, on this site — written for practice here, not reproductions of any released paper.

The test itself has changed since the last released paper: it is now online for most students, and results are reported on four proficiency levels rather than the bands of 2016. A 2016 paper still shows the question types; it does not show the screen.
